within me a song seeks to be heard
i want to bellow it to the sky
have it released, set free
but i cannot open my mouth wide enough
nor do i have enough breath
to sing it with the fire it needs

within me it continues to build
and i fear the only way it will be freed
is to destroy me
shatter me into glass beads as it explodes
from my core
only to rain down
and remake me anew

until then, i am trapped
in my cage of flesh
